Experienced Graphic Designer

The National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to develop and oversee the creation of creative, effective print and digital promotional design materials to support the marketing initiatives and goals of the Association.  You will be responsible for all of the Association's design projects and standards, working with outside vendors and internal stakeholders in multiple divisions. This position is non-managerial and reports to the Vice President of Marketing.

What you'll do:

  • Develop effective business-to-business marketing materials to promote the Association’s dues and non-dues products, services, and membership, working collaboratively with stakeholders from across the organization.
  • Design all of the Association's online and print materials including brochures, websites, print ads, online advertising, direct mail, newsletter templates, e-mail templates, and various on-site materials and displays.
  • Provide art direction for and proof the design of The NAFCU Journal, our bi-monthly magazine.
  • Work with the Communications team to hire photographers for conferences and hearings within budget and coordinate the photography expectations and the delivery of files to NAFCU.
  • Oversee and manage the internal production process including working with staff to determine the format, costs, materials, printer bids and selection, scheduling fulfillment, and maintaining good relationships with printers and mail houses.
  • Manage all third-party printing and mailing vendor relationships, as well as outside designers as needed, ensuring that brand standards and quality of work meet expectations.
  • Oversee graphics issues or problems when assistance is needed concerning logos, website graphics, photos, and design. This includes creating PDFs, resizing logos, color correcting images, insertion of graphics into documents, and assistance with graphics programs.
  • Work with the VP of Marketing to develop, maintain, and manage NAFCU’s brand standards and guidelines.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in graphic design and production coordination.
  • College degree in graphic design or similar, preferred.
  • Web design, HTML, and CSS knowledge required, including responsive design standards and implementation.
  • Excellent desktop publishing skills using Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat on a Mac platform. Basic Microsoft skills.
  • A good eye for layout, composition, typography, color, and design, a must.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills. Accuracy and attention to detail, a must.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deal with firm deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge and background with prepress and print production.
  • Knowledge of trade associations and financial institutions, particularly credit unions, desirable.
  • Great positive attitude, work ethic, and the ability to show initiative.
