Would they make a film about you?

Written by Anthony Demangone

There's something magical about the cinema. The soundtrack. The special effects. It all can take you away to a special place where you lose track of time.

Would they ever make a movie about your work? About what you do?

Seems unlikely, right?

Not many of us were part of Olympic history. (Miracle) Few of us were homeless before becoming wildly successful. (The Pursuit of Happiness)

Most of us simply go to work and give it our best. They don't make films about that.

But they do.

If you ever get the chance, please watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

It follows Jiro Ono in his quest to make perfect sushi. From the selection of the fish, to the preparation, to the presentation - he pushes himself to improve. And yes, he admits that he dreams of making sushi.

For me, the film isn't about making sushi. It is about dedicating yourself to be the best. It is about taking an every-day task, and turning it into art. It is about falling in love with your work, and treasuring every moment along the way.

Star Wars? Well, that takes the impossible, and brings it to life.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi?  Jiro takes a piece of everyday life, and achieves the impossible.

I'll take the latter. Eight days a week.
