Metsger is NCUA's new chairman

NCUA confirmed Monday that President Barack Obama has designated Rick Metsger as NCUA Board chairman, effective Sunday.

"NAFCU congratulates Mr. Metsger on his new designation, and we look forward to continuing our work with him and the entire agency to ensure credit unions have the best regulatory environment possible to continue their high level of service to members," said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger.

Berger and NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt met with Metsger last week to discuss field of membership and moving healthy credit unions back to an 18-month exam cycle. On Monday, Berger also offered his congratulations to the new chairman.

Metsger succeeds Debbie Matz, who stepped down from the agency board chairmanship April 30.

The just-released full agenda for NAFCU's 49th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo includes an NCUA Update from Chairman Metsger to credit union executives and board members from the main stage on June 15, in downtown Nashville. Learn more.
