NBC's Mark Halperin is Congressional Caucus keynote
NAFCU is moving quickly to fill the speaker slate for this year's Congressional Caucus, slated Sept. 10-13 in Washington and featuring keynote speaker Mark Halperin, senior political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.
Halperin, also creator, executive producer and co-host of Showtime's political documentary series The Circus and co-author of New York Times bestseller "Double Down: Game Change 2012," will focus his keynote message on the new administration, the state of the 115th Congress and the future of American politics.
The Congressional Caucus is NAFCU's credit union lobbying event of the year. It brings hundreds of credit union leaders to Washington to talk about the industry's leading issues, meet with lawmakers and hear from Congress, regulators and the administration on actions affecting credit unions and their ability to meet the needs of their more than 108 million members nationwide.
This year's Caucus will include a briefing for credit union leaders on current legislation and tips they can use in their meetings during the week with their U.S. representatives and senators. General sessions are in the mornings; visits with lawmakers on Capitol Hill will take place during the afternoons.
NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger will kick off the Caucus general sessions Monday, Sept. 11. General sessions are Monday through Wednesday, with the yearly Congressional Reception on Capitol Hill slated for Tuesday afternoon.
