Now streaming: New CUPP episode on industry trends with NAFCU’s Berger

CUPPOn the latest episode of NAFCU’s Credit Union Policy Podcast (CUPP), host and NAFCU Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Ann Petros talks with NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger about the industry’s top advocacy issues and trends.

Kicking off the discussion, Berger covered the recent bank failures, from what went wrong and how credit unions are much more safe, secure, and reliable than community and large banks. Listeners will also hear about the latest advocacy issues credit unions face, including regulatory overreach from the CFPB and the clear need to reform the Bureau. Berger and Petros also dove into the importance of grassroots efforts and encouraged all credit unions to work with the association to voice their concerns so NAFCU can best influence policymakers.

Berger spent time discussing the credit union difference, and opportunities for credit unions and their members, even among current economic headwinds. “Credit unions were built for this moment,” said Berger. “As not-for-profit financial institutions, we’ve successfully weathered every storm we’ve ever faced.”

The CUPP takes listeners into the heart of Washington, D.C., to highlight where lawmakers and regulators stand on key credit union issues. Previous episodes have covered topics such as the CFPB’s funding issue, fraud, the housing market, and interchange.
