3rd DVD on corporates posted
July 29, 2010 - NCUA yesterday posted the third of three DVDs explaining the history, operations and stabilization of the corporate credit union system on its website, and all three are available for downloading.
The first DVD provides a look at the history and services of corporate credit unions. The second describes types of corporate credit union investments, how they were affected by financial market declines and how this affected corporates and, as NCUA notes, threatened the entire credit union system.
The third DVD, NCUA says, focuses on steps taken to help stabilize the corporate credit union system, ensure access to adequate liquidity and uninterrupted lending and payment processing and achieve "the least costly outcome for federally insured credit unions."
NCUA is planning to have a final rule on the corporate system ready for board action this fall. By then, the agency plans to have in hand its plan for disposing of the some $50 billion in toxic assets at the corporates.
NAFCU has continuously urged the agency to choose a solution that represents the least cost to the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund and natural person credit unions.
