6 open seats in NAFCU Board elections
Six of the 11 seats on the NAFCU Board – three at-large and the Regions II, IV and V seats – are open in the 2013 board elections, with two of the incumbents poised to step down.
Incumbents affected are as follows:
- Bob Marquette, Members 1st FCU (Pa.), at-large director;
- Ed Templeton, SRP FCU (S.C.), at-large director;
- Frank Berrish, Visions FCU (N.Y.), at-large director;
- Martin Breland, Tower FCU (Md.), Region II director;
- Rod Taylor, Barksdale FCU (La.), Region IV director;
- Richard Harris, Caltech Employees FCU (Ca.), Region V director.
Marquette completes his third consecutive three-year term this year so is ineligible to run, according to the NAFCU bylaws. Berrish has indicated he is not seeking reelection. (See the current board line-up.)
One of the at-large and the Region IV seats will be filled for one year in the 2013 elections. All incumbents except Marquette and Berrish have indicated they will run in this year's election.
Potential candidates can be named on the Nominating Committee slate or by petition. To be considered by the Nominating Committee, candidates should submit an application by Feb. 4 to Michael Lussier, Chair, Nominating Committee, NAFCU, 3138 10th Street North, Arlington, VA 22201.
One of three individuals at each member credit union can cast the institution's vote in the NAFCU Board elections, but each credit union has just one vote. For more details on this and the election cycle calendar, see NAFCU's 2013 board election cycle overview.
