Military Saves wraps up '13 planning at NAFCU
NAFCU on Thursday hosted the final planning meeting for Military Saves Week, which takes place Feb. 25-March 2, and will focus on its continued push for credit union participation in the campaign.
Part of the Department of Defense's Financial Readiness Campaign, Military Saves Week is aimed at encouraging military servicemembers and their families to save. NAFCU will participate in a number of Military Saves Week activities.
Representatives from roughly two dozen organizations were on hand for yesterday's meeting. Those included the National Military Families Association, the Military Officers Association of America and DoD.
NAFCU is calling on credit unions to support the ‘Saves' week initiative by signing up to participate and then reaching out to military members to see how they can help save them money.
America Saves Week runs concurrently with Military Saves Week, and NAFCU will participate in that as well. More than 1,000 non-profit, government and corporate groups are participating in America Saves. Participants are asked to bring attention to the value of saving through all their communication channels, including social media.
NAFCU members with questions about Military Saves Week should contact NAFCU Military Liaison and Associate Director of Legislative Affairs Quincy Enoch by email at qenoch@nafcu.org, or dial 703-842-2261; NAFCU members with questions about America Saves Week should contact Patty Briotta, NAFCU's public relations manager, by email at pbriotta@nafcu.org, or by dialing 703-842-2820.
