John Sileo |
Feb. 26, 2013 – Privacy expert John Sileo will talk to credit unions about his long, costly road to recovery from identity theft during today's opening session of the NAFCU Technology and Security Conference, which runs through Thursday in Austin, Texas.
NAFCU's Technology and Security Conference offers credit unions information and tools they can use to protect themselves and their members against data theft and deal effectively with distributed-denial-of-service, or DDoS, attacks.
Keynote speaker Sileo uses his own experience with ID theft in his work with a number of high-profile clients, including, among others, the Department of Defense, FDIC, the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Homeland Security and AARP. He has told his story on CBS' "60 Minutes" and is the award-winning author of the book "Privacy Means Profit."
Sileo begins his conference keynote address today at 8:45 a.m. Other topics in today's program include:
- Detecting, Preventing and Responding to Social Engineering and Cyber Crime
- Website Down – Prepare and React to a DDoS Attack
- Social Media and Online Threats: A Case Study of Online Impersonation
- Fraud, Forensics and Incident Response: Managing and Mitigating Data Breaches.
The following two days will address balancing fraud protection with day-to-day credit union operations; data loss prevention; hacking threats; technology to optimize members' experience with the credit unions; business continuity; federal regulatory examinations of online banking.
Conference attendees will also learn about cutting-edge solutions that can help them protect data and detect intrusions.
