Velázquez, Budd join NAFCU Caucus speaker slate

House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y., and Rep. Ted Budd, R-N.C., are scheduled to speak at NAFCU's Congressional Caucus in a few short weeks.

Congressional Caucus, Sept. 10-13 in Washington, is NAFCU's lobbying event of the year. It provides credit union attendees with the opportunity to hear directly from lawmakers, members of the administration and regulators on those issues top-of-mind for the industry.

The House Small Business Committee has oversight over the Small Business Administration. In both March and June, NAFCU member representatives testified before House Small Business subcommittees on the value of the SBA's 7(a) and CDC/504 loan programs to the credit union industry. Velázquez also serves as a senior member on the House Financial Services Committee.

Budd also sits on the House Financial Services Committee. Earlier this year, he was an outspoken critic of the Dodd-Frank Act's Durbin debit interchange amendment and the toll it has taken on the financial services industry.

Congressional Caucus registration is open to members and nonmembers; follow the hashtag #NAFCUCaucus on Twitter for the latest information.
