America Saves Week: Commit to saving successfully
America Saves Week kicks off today, and throughout the week NAFCU is highlighting the efforts of member credit unions with strong financial education programs. America Saves Week has been an annual celebration and call to action since 2007 and – with more than 1,700 organizations involved – the week-long program encourages everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully.
The America Saves Week program features a specific theme – such as “Save with a Plan,” “Save by Reducing Debt,” and “Save to Retire” – each day that aims to drive social conversations and public awareness. NAFCU encourages credit unions to participate each day by using the hashtags provided by America Saves Week to highlight saving strategies and financial management tips.
NAFCU has pledged to promote financial literacy and ensure credit unions' members can reach their financial goals by working closely with credit unions, lawmakers and regulators. Many credit unions offer services to help members reach their financial goals; the NCUA has resources available to both credit unions and members and the CFPB has additional consumer financial literacy resources available.
The association will continue to work with lawmakers and regulators to ensure credit unions have the ability and resources to help Americans make well-informed financial decisions and protect vulnerable populations from financial exploitation.
Stay tuned to NAFCU Today all week to learn how credit unions are strengthening members' finances and their communities.
