Berger, Hunt talk ADA, Washington update at MACUMA

NAFCU's Dan Berger and Carrie Hunt last night discussed top credit union issues – including the flood of meritless lawsuits concerning website accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – at the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association's (MACUMA) monthly meeting.

Berger, NAFCU's president and CEO, and Hunt, executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel, shared with attendees the association's efforts to help those credit unions targeted by ADA litigation. NAFCU remains active on the issue, engaging with various stakeholders, including Congress, states' attorneys general and the Justice Department to clarify regulatory standards for websites. NAFCU also has myriad resources available to credit unions on its website.

During last night's meeting, the two also discussed NAFCU's top advocacy priorities for 2018, housing finance reform, data security and regulatory relief. They also provided an update on the NCUA and CFPB and what is expected from the regulators regarding future rulemakings.
