Michigan CU placed into conservatorship

Ukrainian Future Credit Union (Warren, Mich.) last week was placed into conservatorship by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services because of unsafe and unsound practices. The NCUA has been appointed as the credit union's conservator.

Ukrainian Future is a federally-insured, state-chartered credit union with 5,692 members and $84.6 million in assets.

The NCUA, in a press release, said Ukrainian Future's members shouldn't experience an interruption in services, and that accounts at the credit union are protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF).

The agency also provided a document to answer common questions members may have.
