NAFCU's 2019 Spring School kicks off today

Arlington, VaCredit union professionals from across the country are gathering today in Arlington, Va., to kick off NAFCU's 2019 Spring Regulatory Compliance School. Attendees will learn about the latest rules and compliance requirements affecting their credit unions' operations.

The school runs through Friday and is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers.

"The regulatory climate's complexity continues to grow exponentially, so it's critical for credit unions to have a solid understanding of the latest regulations and laws impacting their compliance obligations and their operations," said Brandy Bruyere, NAFCU's vice president of regulatory compliance and a NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). "The sessions at this year's spring school are led by some of our industry's top compliance experts, who will cover everything from the regulation of share accounts to lending and Regulation Z, and other hot compliance topics."

School presenters include Bruyere and other members of NAFCU's compliance team, including Senior Regulatory Compliance Counsel Elizabeth Young LaBerge (NCCO and NAFCU Certified Risk Manager, Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States) and Regulatory Compliance Counsels Jennifer Aguilar (NCCO), Reginald Watson (NCCO) and David Park (NCCO).

Topics to be covered at school include:

  • NCUA supervision and examinations;
  • Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act);
  • Regulation E (Electronic Fund Transfer Act);
  • Military Lending Act;
  • Information and Data Security;
  • Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act); and
  • Privacy.

NAFCU Regulatory Compliance School attendees will receive a free copy of the association's Credit Union Compliance GPS electronic manual. They'll also be able to earn the award-winning NCCO designation and network with other credit union professionals and compliance officers.

NAFCU is also offering a Summer Regulatory Compliance School, Aug. 12-16 in Minneapolis, Minn.; registration is open now.
