NCUA to host webinar for CUs on human trafficking
The NCUA next month is set to host a complimentary webinar about the prevalence of human trafficking and detection methods from a credit union's perspective. The event is presented in partnership with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations unit and with involvement from The Knoble.
While the webinar – open to all credit unions – is free, registration is required and is now available online.
During the event, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on Jan. 7, 2021, participants will hear an overview of the issue of human trafficking, including:
- its impact on communities;
- law enforcement's efforts to combat it;
- potential red flags in credit unions; and
- how to report concerns to the proper authorities.
Attendees are encouraged to submit questions ahead of the event by emailing WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov with the subject line "Human Trafficking." The webinar will be archived and available on the agency's website and learning management service approximately three weeks following the live event.
