Report: Shelby wants Fed to name vice chairman of supervision
Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., is said to be pressing for appointment of a vice chairman of supervision at the Federal Reserve Board before moving forward on two Fed Board vacancies.
The new Fed Board position is called for by the Dodd-Frank Act, but no nomination has been forthcoming to fill it, reportedThe Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, the president's two nominees to the Fed Board – Kathryn Dominguez, an economist at the University of Michigan, and Allan Landon, former CEO for the Bank of Hawaii – have yet to get a hearing.
The Fed Board has been operating with two vacancies since late May 2014. Dominguez was nominated July 21, and Landon was nominated this January.
