Shutdown averted as Congress reaches deal to continue government funding

Capitol Hill

Congress reached an agreement late Thursday and passed a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through Feb.18. The Senate passed the House CR after voting on an amendment related to President Biden’s vaccine executive order, which failed to pass.

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., commented on the end date of the CR saying, “while I wish it were earlier, this agreement allows the appropriations process to move forward toward a final funding agreement which addresses the needs of the American people.”

NAFCU remains engaged with lawmakers as the BBBA makes its way through Congress and continues to advocate against the proposed IRS reporting requirement, which is currently excluded, and the Small Business Administration (SBA) direct-lending proposal which is still being considered for inclusion in the final bill.
