Trump announces SBA administrator nominee

White HousePresident Donald Trump Thursday announced that he plans to nominate Jovita Carranza to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA). Carranza currently serves as U.S. treasurer within the Treasury Department, and previously served as deputy SBA administrator.

Carranza is being nominated to replace Linda McMahon as SBA administrator; McMahon recently announced she would be stepping down from the position.

NAFCU works closely with the SBA to improve access to credit union small-dollar loans to small businesses across the nation. The association met with McMahon last month to discuss these efforts and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the agency in 2017.

NAFCU has also testified in support of legislation to strengthen the SBA's 7(a) loan program last year, which the agency is currently working to implement.

NAFCU has also worked with the SBA on other industry issues, such as website accessibility concerns under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and efforts to modernize the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
