Trump picks Hassett to lead CEA

President Donald Trump on Friday named Kevin Hassett to chair the Council of Economic Advisers.

Hassett is a senior fellow and director of economic policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank. He has previously advised Republican presidential candidates, including President George W. Bush, Sen. John McCain and Mitt Romney. He also served as an economist at the Federal Reserve and a consultant at the Treasury Department.

The CEA is part of the Executive Office of the President and advises the president on economic policy.

Hassett's nomination will be subject to Senate confirmation.
