Kraninger to share vision for CFPB

headshotCFPB Director Kathy Kraninger will make her first public remarks this morning at an event hosted by the Bipartisan Policy Center. NAFCU staff will attend the address and continue to work with the bureau to address credit union priorities.

In a keynote address at 10:00 a.m. Eastern, Kraninger is expected to share her vision for the bureau and cover key issues that she plans to focus on, including:

  • protecting consumers from bad actors;
  • providing clear rules to financial institutions and non-bank lenders; and
  • empowering consumers to make sound financial decisions.

The event will be webcast and a discussion featuring panelists from a variety of policy and financial institutions is scheduled to take place following Kraninger's remarks. More information and registration is available via the Bipartisan Policy Center here.

Last month, NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger met with Kraninger to discuss the bureau's rulemaking initiatives and share how the bureau could reduce credit unions' regulatory burden. Berger has communicated credit unions' concerns and priorities with Kraninger since she was confirmed as director in December.
