March 31, 2011 – With the close of NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance School March 25, the next major compliance-related event for credit unions to look forward to is the association's Regulatory Compliance Seminar, set for Oct. 25-28 in Orlando, Fla.

While the Regulatory Compliance School is specifically designed to prepare credit union professionals to earn the prestigious NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer designation, the Compliance Seminar provides an in-depth overview of the latest rules, regulations and guidelines affecting the industry.

This year's seminar will provide colleague-to-colleague learning opportunities. In addition, credit union representatives attending the seminar will credits toward recertifying their NCCO designation.

"We're very busy putting together an agenda for October's seminar," said Anthony Demangone, NAFCU's vice president of regulatory compliance. "I know that corporate governance, fiduciary duties and general issues related to federal credit union boards have been areas of concern for our members. He also notes that as provisions of the Dodd-Frank regulatory reform law are implemented and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau begins its operations, many credit unions will have questions about what this means for their operations. "We'll try to tackle all of this and more during the Regulatory Compliance Seminar," he said.

Like NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance School, the seminar is a sought-after event. The school enjoyed a record-breaking attendance of 180 credit union professionals. Last year's Regulatory Compliance Seminar commenced before a sold-out crowd and featured NCUA Office of Corporate Credit Unions Director Scott Hunt and staff attorney Frank Kressman among its many expert speakers.

NAFCU members and nonmembers can attend the seminar, which will be held at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. Registration discounts end Aug. 26. For more information, click here.
