Judge Leon grants stay in interchange case
Sept. 20, 2013 - Judge Richard Leon, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, granted a stay requested by all parties in the merchants' lawsuit over the Federal Reserve's debit interchange rule, implementing the Dodd-Frank Act "Durbin amendment."
The parties requested the stay pending the appeal of Leon's July 31 decision to vacate the current rule. The stay and current interchange rules will remain in place while the appeal is under consideration.
Leon's order was issued not long after the Fed and merchants filed and were granted their motion for an expedited schedule for briefing and consideration of the appeal.
