Support Credit Unions at the Industry’s Most Intimate Advocacy Event

In today's uncertain political environment, you can make more of a difference than ever. Protect your members by advocating on their behalf on Capitol Hill. Your insights will help Congress understand why and how it needs to act against harmful regulatory burdens and make sure credit unions have a seat at the table when determining future laws that govern our industry. We make it easy by offering you the most personal access to lawmakers and regulators of any credit union advocacy event.

Top political risks to credit unions

The new Credit Card Competition Act in the Senate would be a detriment to credit unions and your members if passed. It would essentially be a back-door price control on your credit card interchange. While the bill seeks to limit these new requirements to only institutions over $100 billion, the history of the failed exemption in the Durbin amendment has shown that market changes will negatively impact all institutions.

The CFPB is considering putting credit unions on the hook to repay individuals who actually approve fraudulent transactions on money transfer services like Zelle. That’s an entirely different ballgame from repaying people for payments they didn’t authorize. And that’s a heavy burden on you. Here are 5 more:

  1. CFPB attacks on credit union non-interest income
  2. Bank attacks on credit union/bank mergers
  3. Bank attacks on our tax exemption
  4. Increasing risk of redundant new laws on privacy
  5. Government takeover of small business lending
