CFPB advisory board meets Sept. 27
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Consumer Advisory Board holds its first open meeting Sept. 27 in St. Louis.
The board is made up of 25 members who have expertise in a variety of fields, including consumer protection, financial services, community development, fair lending, civil rights and consumer financial products or services. This group includes representatives of depository institutions primarily servicing underserved communities, including those serving communities affected by higher-priced mortgage loans.
The advisory board was established to provide the CFPB leadership advice on consumer financial issues and emerging market trends. Bill Bynum of Hope Enterprises Corporation/Hope CU and Lauren Castro de Cortes of Centris FCU are on the Consumer Advisory Board. Bynum is vice chair.
The meeting will include remarks from CFPB Director Richard Cordray and Deputy Director Raj Date. Board members will be sworn in at the start of the session.
The Sept. 27 meeting is slated for 12:15 p.m. Central time at the Randall Gallery, 999 North 13th St., St. Louis, MO 63106; it is set to conclude at 3 p.m. While the meeting is open to the public, an RSVP is required; send full name and organizational affiliation (if any) to cfpb.events@cfpb.gov.
