Final NDAA does not include NAFCU-opposed provisions

CapitolThe House and Senate released the compromised version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) late Wednesday evening. The final legislation does not include several NAFCU-opposed provisions.

NAFCU’s advocacy team, with the help of grassroots efforts from credit unions, relentlessly fought to keep interchange legislation from being attached as an amendment to the both the Senate and House versions of the NDAA.

A vote on the bill is expected soon, as lawmakers aim to send it to President Joe Biden’s desk before the end of the month; the Senate is expected to vote first, followed by the House.

Of note, the House is expected to consider the measure under suspension of the rules to expedite the process, bypassing procedural votes but requiring a two-thirds majority.

NAFCU will continue to advocate for credit union priorities in end-of-year legislative efforts. Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for the latest out of Washington.
