NAFCU Board Member Fisher Retires; Schlehuber appointed

NAFCU Board Member Robert Fisher, president and CEO of Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, is retiring after nearly 30 years of leadership and service to the credit union industry. Lisa Schlehuber, CEO of Elements Financial Federal Credit Union, will join the board to serve in Fisher's place as Director-at-Large, effective Jan. 1, 2020.
NAFCU's Board of Directors – made up of 11 credit union CEOs – guides the association in its advocacy for the credit union industry, which provides safe, affordable financial services products to its 119 million members nationwide. More on the board's activities this year.
"Lisa is a consummate leader and CEO, and we are excited to welcome her to NAFCU's Board," said Jeanne Kucey, NAFCU's board chair and president and CEO of JetStream Federal Credit Union. "She will serve as a key contributor in the boardroom, and we know NAFCU and our members will grow stronger with her by our side. We look forward to working with Lisa as we continue to serve as the industry's Washington Watchdog.
"NAFCU has benefited greatly from Bob's dedication to the credit union industry, and we thank him for his years of extraordinary service to credit unions, including his service on numerous NAFCU committees and the NAFCU Services Board of Directors. We wish him well in retirement, and his insights will continue to help guide us as we move forward," added Kucey.
NAFCU officers for the remainder of the 2019-2020 term are:
- Jeanne Kucey, chair and Southern Region Director – president and CEO of JetStream Federal Credit Union in Miami Lakes, Fla.;
- Debra Schwartz, vice chairman and Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego, Calif.;
- Thomas W. DeWitt, treasurer and Western Region Director – president and CEO of State Farm Federal Credit Union in Bloomington, Ill.; and
- Gary A. Grinnell, secretary and Eastern Region Director – president and CEO of Corning Federal Credit Union in Corning, N.Y.
Board members include:
- James A. Kenyon, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Whitefish Credit Union in Whitefish, Mont.;
- Lonnie Nicholson, Southern Region Director – president and CEO of EECU Credit Union in Fort Worth, Texas;
- Jan N. Roche, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of State Department Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va.;
- Lisa Schlehuber, Director-at-Large – president and CEO of Elements Financial Federal Credit Union in Indianapolis, Ind.;
- Brian T. Schools, Eastern Region Director – president and CEO of Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va.;
- Keith Sultemeier, Western Region Director – president and CEO of Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and
