New NAFCU Credit Union Compliance GPS features ADA, reg updates

2018 NAFCU Credit Union Compliance GPSCredit unions can now download NAFCU's updated 2018 Credit Union Compliance GPS, which features new sections on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) website compliance, CFPB's mortgage servicing rules, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network's (FinCEN) customer due diligence rule and updates on major regulatory changes over the past year.

"NAFCU's GPS is a great resource for credit union compliance professionals – it breaks down complex regulations in easy-to-understand terms," said Brandy Bruyere, NAFCU's vice president of regulatory compliance. "This year's GPS covers current issues such as ADA compliance, but also the regulations that affect credit unions every day. Considering credit unions can share the GPS manual with their entire organization with just one purchase, this is a great value and great investment to make."

Those who attend NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance School receive a free copy of the GPS manual; registration for NAFCU's Fall Regulatory Compliance School is open here. Bruyere also recently shared with CUBroadcast's Mike Lawson a recap of NAFCU's Spring Regulatory Compliance School and provided an overview of the GPS features.

Highlights of the 2018 edition include:

  • a new appendix on ADA website compliance, FinCEN's customer due diligence rule (which goes into effect May 11) and updates to CFPB's TILA/RESPA integrated mortgage disclosure (TRID) rule;

  • other updates on major regulatory changes over the past year, such as amendments to the CFPB's mortgage servicing rules;

  • user-friendly search functions, including bookmarks and hyperlinks; and

  • research tips following each section.

The GPS is used as the textbook for those taking the NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO) exams, both through the self-study track and the program offered at NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance Schools.

NAFCU is offering a sneak peek of the 2018 GPS manual prior to purchase; see a part of the Regulation E section from the Member Accounts chapter, or check out the full table of contents and FAQs on the manual.
