This week: Congress heads home, NAFCU continues bold advocacy strategy

CapitolSenate and House lawmakers are in their home states and districts this week after sending President Joe Biden a continuing resolution to fund the government on Thursday. The President signed the legislation ahead of the Friday deadline, averting a government shutdown.

NAFCU will continue to regularly meet with administration officials, lawmakers and regulators to create a regulatory environment in which credit unions can thrive. While Congress is home, credit unions can join the association in its advocacy by reaching out to their local representatives; contact information for federal lawmakers can be accessed through NAFCU's Grassroots Action Center.

Items of note also happening this week:

  • Wednesday, NAFCU's Legislative Committee will meet;
  • Thursday, the association will host a webinar on engaging with third-party providers offering digital asset services; and
  • Friday, comments are due to NAFCU regarding the CFPB's inquiry into buy now pay later programs (comments can be submitted through the association’s Regulatory Alert).

Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for the latest out of Washington.
