NAFCU offers new opportunities to educate compliance professionals

computerIn response to lingering uncertainty and concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic, NAFCU is pursuing new opportunities to ensure credit union professionals have access to top-rated educational resources and the ability to connect with peers. It's latest move: Pivoting the upcoming BSA and Summer Regulatory Compliance Schools to virtual events.

"While our nation continues to grapple with travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic, NAFCU has redesigned our in-person BSA and Regulatory Compliance Schools to virtual platforms," said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. "NAFCU is committed to providing credit unions with forward-thinking, educational programs and trainings, and we welcome the industry's best and brightest to join us virtually to hone their knowledge and skills."

These two events will no longer occur in person. The virtual events will allow NAFCU to provide compliance professionals with the information they need to know while prioritizing the health and safety of members, staff, and speakers. Here's what you need to know about the changes:

The Virtual BSA School – happening July 20-22 – will allow compliance professionals to demonstrate their commitment to protecting their institution from money laundering threats. Attendees will finish the virtual event with strategies to coordinate and monitor Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, a solid understanding reporting requirements, and a network of BSA professionals spanning the country. There is also an opportunity to earn or recertify for the NAFCU Certified Bank Secrecy Officer (NCBSO) designation. See the full agenda.

The Virtual Regulatory Compliance School will occur over two weeks – from July 28-30 and Aug. 4-6 – to give compliance professionals the ability to build their comprehensive understanding of regulations that impact daily operations while still performing job and home responsibilities. The virtual event will feature NAFCU's highly-regarded Regulatory Compliance Team and other leading compliance experts to review compliance basics and give insights into what credit unions can expect in the coming months. Attendees are also able to prepare for and test to become a NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). See the full agenda.

Registration for the virtual events is available online. Those who were registered to attend the in-person events have been automatically transferred to the virtual events. Additional details on refunds, hotel cancellations, and other transfer options were emailed to registered attendees.
