Resources available for Caucus, congressional meetings

capitol hillHundreds of credit union executives and advocates will be in Washington Sept. 11-14 to be part of NAFCU's award-winning advocacy efforts during the association's annual Congressional Caucus. NAFCU has various resources available on the conference website to help attendees prepare for the week on Capitol Hill.

Caucus is the premier credit union lobbying event of the year, featuring dozens of key administration officials, regulators and lawmakers and more than 200 meetings on Capitol Hill. To ensure attendees have need-to-know information easily accessible, NAFCU has various resources online, including:

  • A rundown of top issues: Attendees will have the opportunity to share credit unions' perspective on critical issues facing the industry during meetings on Capitol Hill with representatives and senators. NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team, which received a 2018 ASAE Power of A, Silver Award and was the only financial trade association to win the prestigious award, has provided easy-to-share blurbs on issues ranging from the credit union tax exemption, regulatory relief, data security and more. Each of the issues will also be discussed in detail during Caucus presentations and panels.
  • The speaker schedule: NAFCU continues to add high-profile speakers to its Caucus lineup, but now available online is the speaker schedule – which will be updated as new speakers are announced. Broken down by day, the schedule also includes links to speakers' biographies to give attendees background on the speakers and the issues on which they focus.

  • Tips for the trip: From special events and things to do around Washington, the Caucus website makes it easy for attendees to plan their trip. Be sure to request a Hill visit to schedule your meeting with preferred congressional offices and check out special networking events to mingle with lawmakers and their staff on-site. Also get the insider scoop on top restaurants and activities to do once Caucus wraps up.

This year's Congressional Caucus is sponsored by Mastercard; it is open to both members and nonmembers and registration is still open. Stay tuned to NAFCU Today for more updates on speakers leading up to the event and follow #NAFCUCaucus on Twitter for additional coverage.
