CUs: Represent your members by telling their stories on Capitol Hill
Looking for an opportunity to share your credit union's story in real time so lawmakers understand how burdensome regulations and other issues impact growth and day-to-day operations? Through NAFCU's revamped hybrid Congressional Caucus, offered both online and in-person, credit unions can play an even more active role in advocating for the industry and its more than 125 million members.
During the event, attendees will engage with speakers from the Administration, Congress, and regulatory agencies such as the NCUA and FHFA. This year, political icon and best-selling author James Carville joins as keynote during a special Q&A with NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. Additionally, participants will take part in NAFCU's revered takeover of Capitol Hill by attending meetings with lawmakers and regulators.
If you need assistance setting up meetings with lawmakers, you may contact NAFCU's Legislative Affairs team via the request Hill Visit form. Scheduled Hill visits will be shared with participants so that other attendees can use them as a reference or request to join a specific meeting. Learn more and request Capitol Hill meetings here.
NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team has put together a number of resources to support credit unions in these meetings, including its 2021 advocacy priorities, an infographic on the credit union difference, and pages dedicated to key industry issues.
Ahead of Caucus, credit unions can utilize NAFCU's Grassroots Action Center to get a jumpstart on sharing how their institution has worked to help members through the pandemic and urge lawmakers to take action on key industry issues.
The online portal serves as a great resource for credit unions to easily participate in NAFCU's advocacy, including customizable messages on key issues, bill tracking, and contact information for senators and representatives.
Virtual Congressional Caucus will be held in a hybrid format, both in-person and online, Sept. 12-15. Registration for the event is currently available online. See the full agenda here. In-Person details can be accessed here, and virtual details here. Stay tuned to NAFCU Today and follow along on Twitter with #NAFCUCaucus for up to the minute updates.
